October 9, 2025, Marseille and San Francisco --–UNISTELLAR, the company behind the world’s most advanced, user-friendly smart telescopes and the inventor of the ENVISION Smart AR Binoculars, is celebrating its 10th anniversary with “10 Nights Under the Stars.”

This citizen science campaign, developed in partnership with the SETI Institute, invites astronomy fans around the world to observe comets over 10 nights in October and November, to record data on C/2025 R2 (SWAN) and other notable objects such as 3I/ATLAS, C/2025 A6 (Lemmon), and C/2025 K1 (ATLAS).

“Our 10th anniversary is the perfect moment to deepen our exploration of the cosmos with our community,” said Dr. Franck Marchis, Senior Astronomer at the SETI Institute and Chief Science Officer at Unistellar.  “The observation of comets offers both a striking astronomical spectacle and valuable contributions to citizen science.  It’s a reminder that astronomy is no longer reserved for professionals; it’s something families, enthusiasts, and curious minds everywhere can now be part of.”

Working with SETI Institute scientists, Unistellar’s global network of 25,000 citizen scientists will contribute data that will help advance astronomical research. Observations will take place on the following nights:

  1. Sunday 5th October: C/2025 A6 (Lemmon)
  2. Saturday 18th October: C/2025 R2 (SWAN) + C/2025 A6 (Lemmon)
  3. Monday 20th October: C/2025 K1 (ATLAS)
  4. Monday 20th October: C/2025 R2 (SWAN) Focus Night #1 (+C/2025 A6 (Lemmon))
  5. Tuesday 21st October: C/2025 R2 (SWAN) Focus Night #2 (+C/2025 A6 (Lemmon))
  6. Wednesday 22nd October: C/2025 R2 (SWAN) Focus Night #3
  7. Thursday 23rd October:  C/2025 K1 (ATLAS)
  8. Monday 27th October: C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) + C/2025 K1 (ATLAS)
  9. Sunday 9th November: C/2025 K1 (ATLAS)
  10. Saturday 15th November: 3l/ATLAS (early in the morning) + C/2025 R2 (SWAN)

Three SWAN Focus Nights (Oct 20–22) during new-moon darkness and the Orionids meteor shower are particular highlights. The campaign also includes seven additional nights to observe Comet Lemmon and Comet ATLAS (K1), as well as early looks at 3I/ATLAS. All participants who submit validated data on five or more nights will earn a 10th Anniversary Citizen Scientist certificate, and their contributions will be acknowledged in the campaign report and any resulting publications.

About the SETI Institute
Founded in 1984, the SETI Institute is a non-profit, multi-disciplinary research and education organization whose mission is to lead humanity's quest to understand the origins and prevalence of life and intelligence in the universe and to share that knowledge with the world. Our research encompasses the physical and biological sciences and leverages expertise in data analytics, machine learning and advanced signal detection technologies. The SETI Institute is a distinguished research partner for industry, academia and government agencies, including NASA and NSF.

About UNISTELLAR
Unistellar creates the world's most powerful and easy-to-use smart telescopes. Thanks to exclusive and patented advances in imaging and optics, its range of connected products finally make observing the sky that immersive voyage among the stars each of us dreams of, but never got to experience before. It even pushes the boundaries of technology to enable observing even in the heart of the city and despite light pollution.

Unistellar is a market leader in smart telescopes, providing a unique experience of observing and discovering space, in the United States, Europe, Japan and worldwide. The company has received three CES Awards, in 2018, 2022 and 2025.

Through partnerships with renowned scientific organizations such as NASA and the SETI Institute, Unistellar has built the world's first crowdsourced astronomy community. The decisive contribution of the Unistellar Network to the study of the DART planetary defense mission has already been recognized by major scientific journal Nature.

In July 2024 it announced the first pair of Smart AR Binoculars dedicated to the Stars and Outdoors exploration.
