Education

Are we alone in the Universe? Is there life beyond Earth? How can we search for evidence of life in our Solar System and beyond? These questions motivate people to learn about our natural world, and are at the core of our Center for Education. The Center promotes STEM education through NASA- and NSF-funded programs aimed at teaching and inspiring children, young adults and educators with emphasis on space sciences and astrobiology.

NASA AAA Electromagnetic Spectrum and Multi-wavelength Astronomy (EMS/MWA) Curriculum Materials

The Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)-compliant NASA EMS/IRA curriculum unit was written for classroom delivery by teachers participating in the NASA AAA professional development program. Curriculum components are available to a wider audience via this site. Please note that more material may be added to this page periodically, so checking back occasionally is encouraged.

The NASA AAA program currently also offers an Astronomy Academy for teacher professional development with virtual and in-person opportunities. Educators and administrators can register to receive program announcements and participate in professional development opportunities via this form.

This work is supported by Cooperative Agreement NNX16AC51A between NASA’s Science Mission Directorate and the SETI Institute. Further acknowledgements are contained in the Curriculum Explanatory Guide and Acknowledgements document.
