Biography

Dr. Sofia Sheikh is a Technosignature Research Scientist at the SETI Institute. She primarily works on technosignatures (SETI), fast radio bursts (FRBs), pulsars, and other observational radio astronomy topics using the Allen Telescope Array. She received her undergraduate degrees in physics and astronomy at the University of California, Berkeley, earned her dual-title PhDs in astronomy and astrobiology from Penn State, and performed research at the SETI Institute for three years as an NSF MPS-Ascend Fellow prior to her current position. She hopes, through her work, to help us learn more about the distribution of technological life in the galaxy.
