Biography
Dr. Batalha studies planetary atmospheres at the nexus of observation and theory, for planets within the Solar System and beyond. Specifically, she has expertise in leveraging and developing open science theoretical models (climate, spectroscopic, chemistry, and cloud) to determine atmospheric properties from spectroscopic observations of exoplanets and brown dwarfs. She is involved (co-I or co-PI) in 430 hours of atmospheric characterization of exoplanets with JWST guest observer, early release, and guaranteed time programs. For VPL, Dr. Batalha supports JWST TRAPPIST-1 analysis, develops methodologies for ELT/JWST, optimizes info content for HabWorlds.
