Biography

Dr. Sudakow is a physicist and applied mathematician whose work bridges mathematics, climate science, and astrobiology. He holds a Master’s in Physics and a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, and previously held an NSF Ed Lorenz Postdoctoral Fellowship. Over the past 13+ years, he has taught and conducted research at universities in the United States and the United Kingdom. His work has been funded by the NSF, NASA, the Royal Society, and the Research Council of Norway. From 2020 to 2022, he was a Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics (KITP) Scholar. In 2013, the German Federal Government honored him with the “Green Talent” award for his sea-ice research and leadership in interdisciplinary collaboration. Sudakow develops stochastic–dynamical and statistical physics methods for physical, environmental, and living systems. His current interests include planetary climates, the habitability of icy worlds, and interpretable AI for biosignature detection in remote-sensing and in-situ data.
