Isabel Angelo
Davie Postdoctoral Fellow
Disciplines: Astronomy, Astrophysics, AI and Machine Learning, Exoplanets
Degree/Major: PhD, Astronomy & Astrophysics, UCLA (2025)
Biography
Isabel learned her B.A. in Astrophysics from UC Berkeley in 2017, and graduated in 2025 with a PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics from UCLA. She's worked at the intersection of machine learning, physical models, and statistical methods to search for planets, binary stars, and anomalies in datasets including Kepler and Gaia. She currently works on expanding ML-driven exoplanet detection to identify anomalous signals in transit data. These anomalies include both astrophysical anomalies and possible technosigature candidates.
