Biography

Danielle Siembieda is a systems artist whose work bridges community engagement, emerging technologies, and environmental issues. She has been an artist-in-residence at the University of California, Santa Cruz Genomics Institute, home to the Genome Browser, as part of UCSC’s Arts Research Open Lab. Siembieda founded Art Inspector: Saving the Earth by Changing Art, a social impact company that promotes sustainability in art and has received funding from Silicon Valley Energy Watch. She has collaborated with municipal organizations, including the City of San Francisco Department of the Environment, to help artists work in safer, healthier ways. Siembieda is also a member of the Ocean Memory Project, an interdisciplinary collective of artists and scientists exploring the mysteries of underwater ecosystems. Her work has been showcased worldwide, including at the 01SJ Biennial in Silicon Valley, the National Gallery of Denmark in Copenhagen, and Cyfest exhibitions. Siembieda holds an MFA in Digital Media Art from San Jose State University, where she focused on green technologies and sustainable materials at the CADRE Laboratory for New Media. Beyond her artistic endeavors, she contributes to the growth of Silicon Valley’s creative economy and cultural engagement through her work with the City of San Jose. Previously, she served as the Chief Creative Officer for Leonardo/The International Society for the Arts, Sciences, and Technology.
