Biography

Ryan's interests in the field of Astronomy involve the cataclysmic. Graduating from Indiana University in 2021, Ryan's research focused on detecting the remnants of galaxy mergers and accretion events using the spatial positions of stars and globular clusters. These cosmic crashes displace the stars and globular clusters in the system, leaving evidence of the interaction long after other more obvious signs have faded. Now he seeks to prevent a cataclysmic impact by leading a planetary defense program that works with citizen astronomers in the Unistellar network. Using the data obtained by participating citizen astronomers he refines the orbits and determines the shapes of potentially hazardous asteroids as they fly by Earth.
