Biography

Chenoa is a researcher at SETI Institute and uses spectroscopy, the interactions of light and matter, to look for molecules in the gas layers around stars which underpin a search for signs of life beyond our own here on Earth. With this work she faces daily technical challenges which are solved through a combination of computer programming, curiosity, and sometimes thinking “outside the box”. Her work includes leading international collaborations of diverse groups of researchers, and supervising and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.  With the SETI Institute she works on one of the largest all-sky SETI searches using the Jansky Very Large Array.

Chenoa routinely volunteers her time to her community and works with younger students to build their curiosity in the world. She believes that it is through curiosity, motivation, and leadership that we can make the world a better place and discover wonderful new things about our Universe.
