The following questions are asked on the application form. We strongly suggest crafting responses in a separate document before opening the form and beginning the application.

Once you begin the form online, work will be lost if not submitted.

Fill-in fields regarding your professional history include the following. NOTE: submission limits are in characters, not words:

  • Degrees and certifications
  • Have you participated in NASA education programs for your students, or for your own PD? If so, please list. (Note: This is not a pre-requisite for AAA participation.) (500-character limit)
  • Other relevant information (1000-character limit) (For example, professional development (PD) history, leadership roles, publications, etc.)

Short answer/essay questions:

  1. Explain why you are a good choice for the AAA program. What will participation mean to you personally, to your students, and to your college? (1000-character limit)
  2. Describe your teaching. What are the optimum student experiences you strive to deliver? If applicable, include descriptions of 3-Dimensional, Universal Design of Learning (UDL), and/or Project-Based Learning (PBL) lessons or other pedagogies. (1000- character limit)
  3. Selected AAAs will be required to implement a collaborative learning-based, ~ 10 class/hour curriculum unit covering electromagnetic spectrum and infrared astronomy, aligned to appropriate level content and skills. Selected AAAs will be trained on curriculum components. We will rely on involvement of AAAs to incorporate the unit into Community College environments.

Please (A) respond with confirmation that you have autonomy and flexibility to incorporate this unit into lab sections or other components of your courses that include collaborative learning. (B) Elaborate on how you would potentially adapt the unit for your students. (500-character limit)
