Location: Zion National Park, Utah; Cedar Breaks National Monument, Utah; and Springdale, Utah

The National Park Service will host the Southwest Astronomy Festival beginning Friday, August 26th and continuing daily through Sunday, August 28th. The festival will feature many programs and activities that will highlight the amazing dark night sky in and around the national monuments in Southwestern Utah and northern Arizona.

August 26, Zion National Parks Star Party: Bill Diamond, SETI Institute, will be talking about the search for life in the Universe. Does it exist? How might it look like? What are habitable environments for the emergence of life? Given the recent launch of the James Webb Space Telescope, how does it help find exoplanets that might be able to host life? If we might establish contact with intelligent life, what questions will we ask them? Followed by stargazing and telescope observation. 

August 27, Cedar Breaks National Monument: Bill Diamond, SETI Institute will be talking about SETI, astrobiology and theJames Webb Space Telescope.

August 28, Springdale Parks and Recreation Star Party: Bill Diamond, SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) Institute, will be talking about the search for life in the Universe. Does it exist? How might it look like? What are habitable environments for the emergence of life?
