1st Science Results from JWST

The James Webb Space Telescope was launched successfully on December 25, 2021. Following the commissioning of the telescope and its instruments, the first science observations started in late June and its spectacular first images were revealed to the world on July 12, 2022. STScI, the science and operations center for JWST, is pleased to announce that it will host a science conference in early December to highlight the first scientific results from NASA’s newest Great Observatory. The conference will be organized around the four science themes: the Early Universe, Galaxy Assembly, Stellar and Planetary Lifecycles, and Other Worlds. However, abstracts are welcome from any topic advanced by JWST observations.
The conference will focus on contributed presentations and posters, with a limited number of invited talks. A small number of late abstracts will be accepted to encourage the discussion of late-breaking results based on recently acquired data. We anticipate being able to provide partial funding support to enable attendance by early-career researchers. More information will be posted as it becomes available.
The conference will be held December 12-14, 2022 with an optional in-person workshop on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, Maryland, USA.
