Mars Polar Ice Grain Size Mapping Using CRISM

We propose to map the seasonal variability of CO2 and H2O ice in the Martian poles (regions poleward of 55° latitude) using multispectral data from the Compact Reconnaissance Imaging Spectrometer for Mars (CRISM) instrument on Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO). In addition to these high resolution maps of the seasonal presence of H2O and CO2, we will test the hypothesis that ice metamorphism can take place on Mars by mapping the seasonal ice grain sizes and dust contamination for each pixel using a complex mixture model similar to that proposed by Hapke (1993) throughout the Martian year for several Martian years.
