Big Picture Science Radio Show
Monies from the grant will be used to augment the “on-site” feel and appeal of our programming in several ways:
1. Pay for transportation to labs, observatories, and field-work sites.
2. Allow greater use of ISDN lines for interviews that are not “in the field” – these provide the best audio quality, but cost $50 - $150 per hour to rent.
3. Pay for on-the-scene reports by interns and science journalists from major conferences, such as the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Astronomical Society and the American Geophysical Union.
Currently, the show reports from the field approximately 5 – 10 times per year. The grant would allow a doubling of this.
