Why wait until the robins are bobbin' to do a bit of spring cleaning? Join Seth and Molly as they dare to enter the cobweb-cluttered confines of Seth's attic and sort out trash from treasure in his dusty collection. Letters from Listeners

August 7, 2008 from Richard:
I just finished reading your post on SETI regarding the "UFO hypothesis". I am inclined to agree with the bullying from the UFO side. The people in that movement seem to have a gripe with how science is done and have on occasion blamed the entire scientific community of being in on the "conspiracy".

I myself believe that the lights we see are classifed black projects the government is running - similar to the SR-71 or the Stealth fighters and bombers. They are most likely the future line of defense for our nation from future threats. I do believe there is life across the universe and I do believe they could travel here given that the civilization is old enough. But we need to ask ourselves the question - if such an advanced civilization exists why would they want to abduct the random person in the woods or mutilate a cow in a field?

In short, I am grateful for the work you do at SETI and for SETI's existence. ... The right way to prove that there are ETs out there is to catch the off radio signal from one star ... or maybe a ship fleeing from an F-18.

August 6, 2008 from Bruce:
I am appalled at the statements of your guest, Dr. Marc Hauser. He presented a theoretical situation in which 4 people needed an organ to survive, and a healthy person could serve as a donor. He suggested that a majority of Israelis would allow a healthy Palestinian to be killed in order to harvest organs. I can assure you that most if not all Israelis of Jewish decent would find the idea abhorrent at a most primal level. I would also hope that the reverse of the situation is true.

Please inform your guest that at least one listener was deeply offended at his comments.

If possible Dr. Hauser should apologize for the offense of his example, and should in the future, be more sensitive and ethical about his hypothetical situations.
