"A forensic study of the fragments revealed that they contained preserved bits from near the surface of a small primitive asteroid where it experienced concentrated salty fluids—a process not previously known from this type of proto planet world," said lead author and meteor astronomer Peter Jenniskens.

The International Astronomical Union's Working Group for Small Body Nomenclature recently approved the names (20749) Graykowski and (29969) Tiscareno, honoring Dr. Ariel Graykowski and Dr. Matthew Tiscareno for their contributions to planetary science. 

A new study published in Nature suggests that the interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS may be as old as 12 billion years.
